Welcome to the web site of Picayune’s First Baptist Church. The name “picayune” means “small.” It was the name of the small coin that the French inhabitants of New Orleans used. When they discovered our charming little town, the name must have seemed like a perfect fit.

At First Baptist, we have discovered that God does big things in small places. We are a church that opens our arms wide to people from all kinds of backgrounds in order to provide a family of faith and encouragement for life. In fact, I like to describe our church as “a place for every generation.”

We are not perfect. We are simply sinners that are saved by grace and deeply hunger to bring honor and glory to the name of Jesus Christ. If you are hungry to find truth that truly transforms your life, we believe that we have discovered the answer. And we are anxious to share it with you. So come and enjoy the small-town charm, but experience the power of a big-time God.
