Maintenance Technician
Essential Responsibilities
1. Routine and preventive maintenance. Inspect buildings, rooms, fixtures, systems, equipment, andexterior areas; complete assigned work orders; and perform scheduled preventive maintenance.
2. Minor repairs. Perform minor plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, drywall, painting, hardware, and general building repairs that are within the employee's training, authorization, and the limits of applicable law.
3. Escalation of specialized work. Promptly report conditions that require a licensed contractor, specialized equipment, additional staffing, or work beyond the employee's training or authority.
4. Grounds and exterior areas.Assist with grounds, sidewalks, parking areas, drainage, exterior lighting, fences, roofs, and other exterior maintenance. Remove hazards or secure the area and report the condition when immediate correction is not practical.
5. Playgrounds and ministry spaces. Inspect playgrounds and frequently used ministry areas for visible damage, hazards, sanitation concerns, or needed repairs; promptly restrict access and notify theFacilities Manager when a condition may be unsafe.
6. Events and room setup. Set up and take down tables, chairs, staging, equipment, and room arrangements for worship services, classes, meetings, funerals, weddings, and special events as assigned.
7. Custodial support. Provide routine custodial work or custodial backup as assigned, including responding to spills, restroom or sanitation needs, waste removal, and event-related cleanup.
8. Keys, access, and security checks. Assist with keys, access systems, opening or closing tasks, lighting checks, and basic security observations as assigned. Protect access information and immediately report lost keys, security concerns, or unauthorized access.
9. Contractor coordination. Meet vendors or contractors, explain the observed condition, obtain information or estimates when directed, provide authorized access, and communicate work status to theFacilities Manager.
10. Supplies and tools. Maintain orderly tools, equipment, maintenance supplies, and storage areas; monitor inventory; and submit purchase or replacement requests to the Facilities Manager. Use Church property only for authorized work.
11. Vehicles and equipment. Perform assigned inspections and minor upkeep of Church vehicles, grounds equipment, and power equipment; maintain related records; and report needed service. Drive or operate equipment only when authorized and qualified.
12. Emergency response. Respond to urgent facilities needs, alarms, weather-related conditions, utility interruptions, leaks, equipment failures, or other after-hours situations when assigned or contacted.
13. Documentation and communication. Maintain accurate work-order, inspection, preventive-maintenance, vendor, vehicle, and equipment records. Keep the Facilities Manager informed of priorities, hazards, delays, costs, and completed work.
14. Team support. Work cooperatively with pastors, staff, volunteers, vendors, members, WEE personnel, and campus guests. Minimize disruption to worship, education, childcare, office work, and scheduled activities.
Schedule and Availability
15. The regular expectation is 40 hours per week, normally Monday through Thursday and Sunday. The schedule may change based on Church needs, special events, seasonal work, emergencies ,or direction from the Facilities Manager.
Minimum Qualifications
1. High school diploma or GED.
2. Valid driver's license and ability to drive Church vehicles when authorized.
3. Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions, safety procedures, equipment instructions, labels, and work orders.
4. Prior maintenance-technician, building-maintenance, construction, mechanical, custodial, or related experience is preferred but not required.
Physical and Environmental Requirements
1. Regularly stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, climb, carry, push, pull, and use hand and power tools for extended periods.
2. Lift, carry, move, or position items weighing up to 50 pounds, using assistance or material-handling equipment when appropriate.
3. Work indoors and outdoors in varying temperatures and weather conditions and around dust, noise, cleaning products, mechanical equipment, and other ordinary maintenance exposures.
4. Use ladders and access roofs only when trained, authorized, and equipped with required fall-protection measures.
5. Work in or around confined spaces only when trained and authorized and when all required safety controls are in place. Do not enter a permit-required confined space unless FBC has authorized a compliant entry process.
6. Operate power tools and equipment only when trained and authorized and with required guards and personal protective equipment.
7. Perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation. Requests for accommodation should be directed to theAdministrator.
