Faith isn’t just believing something in your heart. It’s taking action because you believe it.
The Bible’s “Hall of Faith” in Hebrews 11 tells stories of people who acted because they trusted God. Noah built a boat before it ever rained. Abraham left his home without knowing where he was going. Rahab hid spies in her home. Their faith moved them to action, and action that cost them something.
Faith often means stepping out before you see the full picture. Like a muscle we need to exercise, faith grows each time you take a step and see how God provides.
Reflection question
What’s one step of faith God is asking you to take right now?
Call to action
Take one small action today that demonstrates trust in God.
Prayer
Lord, give me the courage to move forward in faith, even when I can’t see the outcome. Amen.
Scripture
Hebrews 11:1-8
¹ Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see. ² This is what the ancients were commended for. ³ By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God’s command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible. ⁴ By faith Abel brought God a better offering than Cain did. By faith he was commended as righteous, when God spoke well of his offerings. And by faith Abel still speaks, even though he is dead. ⁵ By faith Enoch was taken from this life, so that he did not experience death: “He could not be found, because God had taken him away.” For before he was taken, he was commended as one who pleased God. ⁶ And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him. ⁷ By faith Noah, when warned about things not yet seen, in holy fear built an ark to save his family. By his faith he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness that is in keeping with faith. ⁸ By faith Abraham, when called to go to a place he would later receive as his inheritance, obeyed and went, even though he did not know where he was going.
James 2:14-17
¹⁴ What good is it, my brothers and sisters, if someone claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save them? ¹⁵ Suppose a brother or a sister is without clothes and daily food. ¹⁶ If one of you says to them, “Go in peace; keep warm and well fed,” but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it? ¹⁷ In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.
Day 2 of 30·
When You Feel Weary
We all have times when we feel tired, drained, or unmotivated. Even doing good things can sometimes leave us feeling worn out.
The Bible encourages us not to give up doing good because in the right season we will see the results if we keep going. Jesus also invites us to come to Him when we are weary, promising rest for our souls. This isn't just physical rest, but a deeper peace that comes from knowing we do not have to carry everything ourselves.
If you're feeling tired, it may be a sign to slow down, pray, and let God refresh you. Serving others and living generously is important, but it should flow from a place of strength that comes from Him.
Reflection question
What helps you find rest and renewal in God?
Call to action
Take 15 minutes today to be still with God, without distractions. Turn on do not disturb on your phone, and set a timer for 15 minutes where your focus is only hearing what God has to say.
Prayer
Lord, renew my strength and restore my joy in serving You. Amen.
Scripture
Galatians 6:9
⁹ Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.
Matthew 11:28-30
²⁸ “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. ²⁹ Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. ³⁰ For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
Day 3 of 30·
God’s Strength in Our Weakness
Most of us try to hide our weaknesses, but the Bible says that God’s power is made perfect in our weakness.
When the apostle Paul struggled with something difficult, God told him, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” This means we don't have to be strong all the time. God can work through our limitations to show His strength.
When you feel like you are not enough, remember that God isn't limited by what you can or can't do. In fact, those moments might be where He works most powerfully.
Reflection question
Where do you need to rely on God’s strength today?
Call to action
Offer one area of weakness to God and ask Him to work through it.
Prayer
Lord, I give You my weakness. Show Your power through me today. Amen.
Scripture
2 Corinthians 12:7-10
⁷ … or because of these surpassingly great revelations. Therefore, in order to keep me from becoming conceited, I was given a thorn in my flesh, a messenger of Satan, to torment me. ⁸ Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me. ⁹ But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. ¹⁰ That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.
Isaiah 40:29-31
²⁹ He gives strength to the weary
and increases the power of the weak.
³⁰ Even youths grow tired and weary,
and young men stumble and fall;
³¹ but those who hope in the Lord
will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles;
they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint.
Day 4 of 30·
Faith That Stands Firm
How do you keep your faith steady when life gets hard?
The Bible tells us to “stand firm” by putting on the armor of God. This means holding on to truth, righteousness, and faith, even when we face opposition or challenges.
Trials will test what we believe, but God gives us everything we need to endure. When we stand firm, we grow stronger, and our example can encourage others to do the same.
Reflection question
What truth from God’s Word helps you stand firm?
Call to action
Choose one verse to memorize this week that will strengthen your faith.
Prayer
Lord, help me stand firm in You, no matter what comes my way. Amen.
Scripture
Ephesians 6:10-18
¹⁰ Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. ¹¹ Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. ¹² For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. ¹³ Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. ¹⁴ Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, ¹⁵ and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. ¹⁶ In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. ¹⁷ Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
¹⁸ And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.
1 Corinthians 16:13
¹³ Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong.
Day 5 of 30·
Peace in a Restless World
Is it possible to have peace in a world that never slows down?
The Bible promises that God’s peace will guard our hearts and minds when we pray and trust Him. This peace doesn't depend on everything going perfectly. It comes from knowing God is with us and that He's in control.
The world offers temporary distractions. God offers lasting peace that stays with us even in hard times.
Reflection question
What’s one worry you need to surrender to God today?
Call to action
Spend five minutes in quiet prayer, releasing your anxieties to Him.
Prayer
Lord, I give You my worries and fears. Fill me with Your peace that passes understanding. Amen.
Scripture
Philippians 4:6-7
⁶ Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. ⁷ And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
John 14:27
²⁷ Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.
Day 6 of 30·
Hearing God in the Noise
Let's be honest, life is noisy.
Phones buzz, people talk, news flows constantly, and our minds are often racing. In all that noise, it can be hard to hear God’s voice.
In the Bible, the prophet Elijah expected to hear from God in a powerful display like a storm or an earthquake. But God spoke to him in a gentle whisper. Sometimes we're looking for God in dramatic moments, but He is often found in the quiet.
To hear Him, we need to make space to be still. This might mean turning off your phone for a while, going for a walk without headphones, or simply sitting in silence. In that stillness, God can speak peace, guidance, and encouragement into our hearts.
Reflection question
What might you need to turn down or turn off to hear God more clearly?
Call to action
Spend 10 minutes in silence today, asking God to speak.
Prayer
Lord, help me to slow down and quiet my heart so I can hear Your voice. Amen.
Scripture
1 Kings 19:11-12
¹¹ The Lord said, “Go out and stand on the mountain in the presence of the Lord, for the Lord is about to pass by.”
Then a great and powerful wind tore the mountains apart and shattered the rocks before the Lord, but the Lord was not in the wind. After the wind there was an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake. ¹² After the earthquake came a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire. And after the fire came a gentle whisper.
Psalms 46:10
¹⁰ He says, “Be still, and know that I am God;
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth.”
Day 7 of 30·
Living Beyond Myself
How much difference would it make in your life if you focused on improving the lives of others?
You can make the world a better place by using your voice and influence to be God’s agents of change and justice on earth. Whether it’s volunteering with an organization, advocating for those who can’t speak for themselves or defending the rights of the poor, you’re called “to act justly, love mercy and walk humbly with your God.”
Living for, and loving others happens in your home, workplace, neighborhood, community, and beyond national borders. When you live like this, your care for people becomes part of a much bigger story that God is telling in the world.
Reflection question
How could your actions today create impact beyond what you can see?
Call to action
Pray for a ministry or cause you support, asking God to multiply your impact through them.
Prayer
Lord, help me live for others and act in ways that benefit my neighbors. Let Your will be done in my life so it reaches people near and far who don’t yet know you. Amen.
Scripture
Proverbs 31:8-9
⁸ Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves,
for the rights of all who are destitute.
⁹ Speak up and judge fairly;
defend the rights of the poor and needy.
Micah 6:8
⁸ He has shown you, O mortal, what is good.
And what does the Lord require of you?
To act justly and to love mercy
and to walk humbly with your God.
Day 8 of 30·
The Power of Encouragement
Your words have power.
Words can build someone up or tear them down. The Bible says to encourage one another daily. Encouragement is more than just being polite. It’s noticing when someone needs help and speaking words that give hope and point them toward God.
Your encouragement might be exactly what someone needs to keep going today.
Reflection question
Who could you encourage today with your words?
Call to action
Send a message or call someone to encourage them in their faith.
Prayer
Lord, use my words to build others up. Help me speak life, truth, and hope today. Amen.
Scripture
Hebrews 3:13
¹³ But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called “Today,” so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness.
Proverbs 18:21
²¹ The tongue has the power of life and death,
and those who love it will eat its fruit.
Day 9 of 30·
God Owns It All
If everything already belongs to God, then every time we give we’re simply passing on what He has entrusted to us.
The Bible says, “The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it.” That means our possessions, skills, opportunities, and even the breath in our lungs are gifts we’ve been given to manage. We aren’t the owners. Instead, we’re caretakers who look after what belongs to someone else.
Jesus told a story about a master who gave his servants money to look after while he was away. Some used it well and multiplied it. One buried it in the ground and nothing happened. The point is that God wants us to use what we’ve been given for good, not to hide it away.
When we think everything is ours, giving can feel like losing. When we see it as God’s, generosity becomes an act of gratitude and trust. It is our way of saying, “I believe You can do more with this than I can.”
Reflection question
What would change if you viewed everything you own as God’s property?
Call to action
What would change if you started to see everything you have as something God has entrusted to you?
Prayer
Father, thank You for entrusting me with what belongs to You. Teach me to manage it wisely and generously, for Your glory. Amen.
Scripture
Psalms 24:1
¹ The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it,
the world, and all who live in it;
Matthew 25:14-20
¹⁴ “Again, it will be like a man going on a journey, who called his servants and entrusted his wealth to them. ¹⁵ To one he gave five bags of gold, to another two bags, and to another one bag, each according to his ability. Then he went on his journey. ¹⁶ The man who had received five bags of gold went at once and put his money to work and gained five bags more. ¹⁷ So also, the one with two bags of gold gained two more. ¹⁸ But the man who had received one bag went off, dug a hole in the ground and hid his master’s money.
¹⁹ “After a long time the master of those servants returned and settled accounts with them. ²⁰ The man who had received five bags of gold brought the other five. ‘Master,’ he said, ‘you entrusted me with five bags of gold. See, I have gained five more.’
Day 10 of 30·
Open Hands
Are your hands open or are they closed?
Curl your hand up into a fist and look at it. Could someone easily place a gift in that closed fist?
To receive gifts from God—and from others—you need to have open hands that are ready to receive. The same goes for giving. We can’t give anything to someone else if our fingers are wrapped tightly around the gift; we need to let it go.
Reflection question
What are you holding on to that God is inviting you to let go?
Call to action
Spend five minutes in quiet prayer, inviting God to show you where you need to relinquish things and trust Him.
Prayer
Lord, open my hands to receive the gifts you have for me, and let those gifts flow through my hands to bless others. Amen.
Scripture
Proverbs 3:5-6
⁵ Trust in the Lord with all your heart
and lean not on your own understanding;
⁶ in all your ways submit to him,
and he will make your paths straight.
1 Peter 4:10
¹⁰ Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.
Day 11 of 30·
The Generous Life God Designed
What if generosity wasn’t something you did every once in a while, but was part of who you are? Imagine if your natural response to needs around you, whether that is a friend short on rent, a neighbor who is unwell, or a charity you believe in, was to help.
That’s the kind of life God designed for us.
The Bible’s book of Proverbs says, “The world of the generous gets larger and larger.” Living generously opens doors to more connection, meaning, and purpose.
One of the clearest examples of this is found in the book of Acts, which tells the story of the first followers of Jesus. They pooled their resources, shared what they had, and made sure no one in their community went without. This wasn’t because they were all wealthy because most weren’t. They gave because they believed life was better when they worked together and cared for one another.
Our culture often tells us to hold tightly to what we have, "just in case." Jesus taught the opposite. He said that if you try to cling to your life, you’ll lose it, but if you give it away for His sake, you will truly find it. Living open-handed doesn’t leave you empty. It fills you with a deeper kind of life that’s rooted in trust, joy, and connection.
Reflection question
Where in your life do you tend to hold on tightly instead of living with open hands?
Call to action
Choose one area of your life and offer it to God this week.
Prayer
God, thank you for being the ultimate giver. Teach me to live with open hands and a willing heart. Show me where I have been holding back, and help me to trust You with everything. Amen.
Scripture
Proverbs 11:24-25
²⁴ There is one who scatters, and yet increases all the more,
And there is one who withholds what is justly due, and yet it results only in want.
²⁵ The generous man will be prosperous,
And he who waters will himself be watered.
Acts 2:44-45
⁴⁴ All the believers were together and had everything in common. ⁴⁵ They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need.
Day 12 of 30·
The Ripple Effect of Generosity
Have you ever done something small for someone and later found out it meant the world to them? Maybe you paid for someone’s coffee, sent an encouraging text message, or helped out when they needed an extra pairs of hands. That’s the ripple effect of generosity.
The apostle Paul wrote to a group of believers and told them that their giving would cause others to thank God. This means generosity does more than meet a need. It points people to something, and someone, greater.
Jesus compared it to light. He said to let your light shine so people will see your good deeds and give glory to God. Generosity works the same way. Imagine dropping a stone into a still pond. You see the splash, but the ripples keep moving far beyond where the stone landed. You might never see all the ways your giving spreads, but God does.
Reflection question
When have you seen a small act of generosity have a big impact?
Call to action
Do one kind, generous act today that might seem small to you and trust God to multiply it.
Prayer
Lord, help me see my generosity through Your eyes. Remind me that nothing given in love is ever wasted. Use my giving to make ripples that glorify You. Amen.
Scripture
2 Corinthians 6:9-11
⁹ … known, yet regarded as unknown; dying, and yet we live on; beaten, and yet not killed; ¹⁰ sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; poor, yet making many rich; having nothing, and yet possessing everything. ¹¹ We have spoken freely to you, Corinthians, and opened wide our hearts to you.
Matthew 5:16
¹⁶ In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.
Day 13 of 30·
Giving Without Fear: Trusting God’s Provision
What would you give if you knew you’d never run out?
Fear can stop us from being generous. We often worry that if we give, there won’t be enough left for us. Jesus told His followers not to worry about what they would eat or wear because God already knows what they need.
In the Bible’s book of 1 Kings, there is a story about a widow who had only enough flour and oil for one last meal for herself and her son. Then the prophet Elijah asked her to make bread for him first. It would have been easy for her to say no. Instead, she trusted God’s word and shared what she had. From that day until the drought ended, her jar of flour and jug of oil never ran out.
When we give without fear, we are saying, “I believe God will take care of me.”
Reflection question
Where is fear holding you back from giving freely?
Call to action
Choose one step of generosity today that feels uncomfortable and trust God to provide for you.
Prayer
Lord, You know my needs before I ask. Replace my fear with faith. Help me to give boldly, knowing You will provide in ways I can’t yet see. Amen.
Scripture
Matthew 6:25-33
²⁵ “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? ²⁶ Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? ²⁷ Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?
²⁸ “And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. ²⁹ Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. ³⁰ If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith? ³¹ So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ ³² For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. ³³ But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.
Day 14 of 30·
The Joy of Generosity
What if giving brought you more joy than keeping?
The Bible says that God loves a cheerful giver. Cheerful means glad and willing. True generosity comes from a grateful heart, not from guilt or pressure.
Think about the last time you gave someone a gift they really wanted. You probably enjoyed seeing their reaction as much as they enjoyed receiving it. That's how God gives. The most famous verse in the Bible says, “God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son.” He gave because He loved, and He invites us to do the same.
When we give with joy, we reflect God’s heart to the world.
Reflection question
When have you experienced joy through giving?
Call to action
Give something today purely for the joy of blessing someone.
Prayer
Father, thank You for the joy that comes from giving. Help me give freely and gladly. Amen.
Scripture
1 Corinthians 9:6-8
⁶ Or do only Barnabas and I not have a right to refrain from working? ⁷ Who at any time serves as a soldier at his own expense? Who plants a vineyard and does not eat the fruit of it? Or who tends a flock and does not use the milk of the flock?
⁸ I am not speaking these things according to human judgment, am I? Or does not the Law also say these things?
John 3:16
¹⁶ For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
Day 15 of 30·
Generosity in Every Season
Have you ever told yourself, “I’ll be generous when I have more, when things get easier?"
In the Bible, the Macedonian believers gave generously even when they had little and life was hard. Their generosity came from their faith, not from their circumstances.
Jesus also noticed a poor widow giving two small coins in the temple. It was a tiny amount in the eyes of others, but it was everything she had. God values the heart behind the gift more than the size of it.
If we wait for the perfect moment to be generous, we may never start. Generosity isn't about the dollar amount; it's about the heart attitude. The only way to be generous with a lot is if you've been generous with a little.
Reflection question
What’s one way you can be generous right now, even if your season feels challenging?
Call to action
Choose one generous act today that stretches you beyond convenience.
Prayer
Lord, help me to be generous in every season and trust You to meet my needs. Amen.
Scripture
2 Corinthians 8:1-5
¹ And now, brothers and sisters, we want you to know about the grace that God has given the Macedonian churches. ² In the midst of a very severe trial, their overflowing joy and their extreme poverty welled up in rich generosity. ³ For I testify that they gave as much as they were able, and even beyond their ability. Entirely on their own, ⁴ they urgently pleaded with us for the privilege of sharing in this service to the Lord’s people. ⁵ And they exceeded our expectations: They gave themselves first of all to the Lord, and then by the will of God also to us.
Luke 21:1-4
¹ As Jesus looked up, he saw the rich putting their gifts into the temple treasury. ² He also saw a poor widow put in two very small copper coins. ³ “Truly I tell you,” he said, “this poor widow has put in more than all the others. ⁴ All these people gave their gifts out of their wealth; but she out of her poverty put in all she had to live on.”
Day 16 of 30·
Giving as Worship
What if giving could be an act of worship?
In the Bible, the apostle Paul thanked the believers in Philippi for supporting his ministry. He called their gift “a fragrant offering” that was pleasing to God. Giving was more than just meeting a need. It was a way to honor God and show love for Him.
When you give with this mindset, the amount matters less than the heart behind it. Every act of generosity can become part of your worship.
Reflection question
How might seeing your giving as worship change the way you give?
Call to action
Offer a gift today—whether it’s time, money, or help—as an intentional act of worship.
Prayer
Lord, may my giving be a reflection of my love for You. Amen.
Scripture
Philippians 4:15-20
¹⁵ Moreover, as you Philippians know, in the early days of your acquaintance with the gospel, when I set out from Macedonia, not one church shared with me in the matter of giving and receiving, except you only; ¹⁶ for even when I was in Thessalonica, you sent me aid more than once when I was in need. ¹⁷ Not that I desire your gifts; what I desire is that more be credited to your account. ¹⁸ I have received full payment and have more than enough. I am amply supplied, now that I have received from Epaphroditus the gifts you sent. They are a fragrant offering, an acceptable sacrifice, pleasing to God. ¹⁹ And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.
²⁰ To our God and Father be glory for ever and ever. Amen.
Romans 12:1
¹ Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship.
Day 17 of 30·
Generosity That Points to Jesus
When people see your generosity, do they see you or do they see Jesus?
Jesus said to let your light shine so people will see your good deeds and give glory to God. Your generosity can be a signpost that points people to Him. Helping a neighbor, supporting a ministry, or encouraging someone who is struggling are all ways you can reflect God’s love. Sometimes people experience His kindness for the first time through the kind actions of others.
Reflection question
Who in your life needs to see God’s love through your generosity this week?
Call to action
Give in a way today that intentionally points someone toward Jesus.
Prayer
Father, use my generosity to point people to You. Amen.
Scripture
Matthew 5:14
¹⁴ “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden.
1 Peter 2:12
¹² Live such good lives among the pagans that, though they accuse you of doing wrong, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day he visits us.
Day 18 of 30·
When Giving Costs You Something
Is it still generosity if it costs you nothing?
King David once said he wouldn't offer to God something that cost him nothing. Real generosity often means giving up something valuable. It might be comfort, time, or money you could have used for yourself.
Jesus also praised a poor widow who gave two small coins. He said she’d given more than anyone else because she gave everything she had to live on.
When giving costs us, it reveals what we value most and how much we trust God.
Reflection question
What’s one area where God might be inviting you to give sacrificially?
Call to action
Give in a way this week that requires real sacrifice.
Prayer
Lord, help me give even when it costs me. Teach me to trust that You are worth more than anything I hold onto. Amen.
Scripture
2 Samuel 24:18-24
¹⁸ On that day Gad went to David and said to him, “Go up and build an altar to the Lord on the threshing floor of Araunah the Jebusite.” ¹⁹ So David went up, as the Lord had commanded through Gad. ²⁰ When Araunah looked and saw the king and his officials coming toward him, he went out and bowed down before the king with his face to the ground. ²¹ Araunah said, “Why has my lord the king come to his servant?”
“To buy your threshing floor,” David answered, “so I can build an altar to the Lord, that the plague on the people may be stopped.”
²² Araunah said to David, “Let my lord the king take whatever he wishes and offer it up. Here are oxen for the burnt offering, and here are threshing sledges and ox yokes for the wood. ²³ Your Majesty, Araunah gives all this to the king.” Araunah also said to him, “May the Lord your God accept you.” ²⁴ But the king replied to Araunah, “No, I insist on paying you for it. I will not sacrifice to the Lord my God burnt offerings that cost me nothing.”
Mark 12:41-44
⁴¹ Jesus sat down opposite the place where the offerings were put and watched the crowd putting their money into the temple treasury. Many rich people threw in large amounts. ⁴² But a poor widow came and put in two very small copper coins, worth only a few cents.
⁴³ Calling his disciples to him, Jesus said, “Truly I tell you, this poor widow has put more into the treasury than all the others. ⁴⁴ They all gave out of their wealth; but she, out of her poverty, put in everything—all she had to live on.”
Day 19 of 30·
Secret Giving, Eternal Rewards
Would you give the same way if no one ever found out?
Jesus taught His followers to give quietly, without trying to get attention or praise from others. He said that when we give in secret, our Father in heaven sees it and will reward us.
This doesn’t mean you can never talk about giving, but it does challenge us to think about why we give. Is it to get kudos and be noticed, or to truly help and honor God?
When we give quietly, it becomes a private moment of worship between us and God. It reminds us that we live for His approval, not the applause of people.
Reflection question
How might secret generosity grow your relationship with God?
Call to action
Give something today in a way only God will know.
Prayer
Father, help me give with the right motives. May my generosity be for Your eyes alone and for Your glory. Amen.
Scripture
Matthew 6:1-4
¹ “Be careful not to practice your righteousness in front of others to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven.
² “So when you give to the needy, do not announce it with trumpets, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, to be honored by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. ³ But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, ⁴ so that your giving may be in secret. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.
Proverbs 19:17
¹⁷ Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the Lord,
and he will reward them for what they have done.
Day 20 of 30·
Generosity is Contagious
Have you ever been inspired to give because you saw someone else do it?
In the book of Acts, the early church shared everything they had. Their generosity encouraged others to do the same. One person’s open heart can set off a chain reaction.
When people see generosity in action, it stirs something inside them. It can encourage them to step out in faith and look for ways to give too.
Your generosity could be the spark that inspires someone else to trust God more deeply.
Reflection question
Who might be encouraged to give because they see your example?
Call to action
Share a story of generosity that’s inspired you, and encourage someone else to join in.
Prayer
Lord, use my example to encourage others to live generously and trust You. Amen.
Scripture
Acts 4:32-37
³² All the believers were one in heart and mind. No one claimed that any of their possessions was their own, but they shared everything they had. ³³ With great power the apostles continued to testify to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus. And God’s grace was so powerfully at work in them all ³⁴ that there were no needy persons among them. For from time to time those who owned land or houses sold them, brought the money from the sales ³⁵ and put it at the apostles’ feet, and it was distributed to anyone who had need.
³⁶ Joseph, a Levite from Cyprus, whom the apostles called Barnabas (which means “son of encouragement”), ³⁷ sold a field he owned and brought the money and put it at the apostles’ feet.
Hebrews 10:24
²⁴ And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds
Day 21 of 30·
The Freedom of Letting Go
What if holding on was actually costing you more than letting go?
We often cling to our possessions, money, or even our time because we think they will make us secure. Jesus taught that “it is more blessed to give than to receive.” Letting go isn't about losing. It is about trusting God to take care of us and finding the freedom that comes with that trust.
When you release what you are holding onto, you make room for God to work in ways you might not expect.
Reflection question
What’s one thing you’ve been holding onto that God might be asking you to release?
Call to action
Give something away today that you’ve been holding tightly.
Prayer
Lord, help me loosen my grip on what I think I need and trust You more fully. Amen.
Scripture
Acts 20:35
³⁵ In everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said: ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’”
Matthew 6:19-21
¹⁹ “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. ²⁰ But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. ²¹ For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
Day 22 of 30·
Generosity That Lasts Forever
Some investments lose value over time. Others last forever.
Jesus told His followers to store up treasures in heaven, where nothing can destroy them. Every act of generosity done in His name has eternal value.
Giving to share Jesus with others, to meet real needs, or to serve those who are hurting builds something that will never fade. When you give toward God’s purposes, you’re investing in a story that will outlast your lifetime.
Reflection question
How are you investing your life in things that will last forever?
Call to action
Find a way to support a ministry or cause that shares Jesus with others.
Prayer
Father, thank You for letting me be part of Your eternal work. Show me where my giving can make the greatest difference for Your Kingdom. Amen.
Scripture
Matthew 6:19-21
¹⁹ “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. ²⁰ But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. ²¹ For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
1 Timothy 6:17-19
¹⁷ Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment. ¹⁸ Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share. ¹⁹ In this way they will lay up treasure for themselves as a firm foundation for the coming age, so that they may take hold of the life that is truly life.
Day 23 of 30·
Opening Our Hearts
What if people could see Jesus by the way you open your heart to others?
Opening your heart (or mouth or home) can make you vulnerable. Trusting others to treat you well and to value your contribution is risky business. It can be painful, but it can also be life-giving. There’s something deeply attractive about people who love others well and share their heart authentically.
Jesus sums up all of scripture by saying “Do to others what you would have them do to you.” He also commanded (it wasn’t a suggestion) that we love one another as He has loved us.
Reflection question
How can you open your heart to love and be loved today?
Call to action
Find a way to show God’s love to someone today. It could be a random act of kindness like paying for someone’s order in the drive-through or cafe or writing someone a note to tell them how much they matter to you.
Prayer
Lord, help me to love others like you love them. Show me how to express that to someone who needs your encouragement in a way that speaks to their heart. Amen.
Scripture
Matthew 7:12
¹² So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets.
John 13:34
³⁴ “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.
Day 24 of 30·
Serving With Purpose
Serving others isn’t just something we do. It’s part of who God calls us to be.
Jesus said He didn’t come to be served but to serve. He was the ultimate servant-hearted leader, so when we serve others, we reflect His heart and His example.
Serving can be public, like leading a group, or quiet, like helping a neighbor without anyone knowing. Both matter to God. Every act of service, big or small, is part of building His Kingdom. In Practicing the Way, John Mark Comer says: "We will find our hearts drawn to particular justice issues, people groups, neighbor families, or lines of work. And it will feel like joy."
Work out what those things are, and find a way to serve there.
Reflection question
Where might God be calling you to serve this week? Have you found the thing that "feels like joy?”
Call to action
Offer your time or skills to help someone in a practical way today.
Prayer
Lord, give me eyes to see opportunities to serve. Help me reflect Your heart in every act of service. Amen.
Scripture
Mark 10:42-45
⁴² Jesus called them together and said, “You know that those who are regarded as rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their high officials exercise authority over them. ⁴³ Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, ⁴⁴ and whoever wants to be first must be slave of all. ⁴⁵ For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”
Galatians 5:13
¹³ You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in love.
Day 25 of 30·
Loving Difficult People
It’s easy to love people who are kind, polite, and share our values. But what about those who are hard to get along with, disagree or frustrate us, or who have hurt us?
Jesus told His followers to love their enemies and pray for those who opposed them. This teaching was just as challenging 2,000 years ago as it is today. Loving difficult people isn’t about pretending bad behavior is okay, and it doesn't mean ignoring healthy boundaries. It’s about showing patience, compassion, and grace, even when it is not returned.
We can do this because God extended His grace to us first. The Bible says that while we were still distant from Him, He loved us and made a way for us to be forgiven through Jesus. When we remember how much grace we have been shown, it becomes easier to extend it to others.
Reflection question
Who in your life is difficult to love, and how might you show them grace this week?
Call to action
Pray for one person who is hard for you to love. Ask God to help you see them the way He does.
Prayer
Father, help me to love people as You love me ... with patience, compassion, and grace. Amen.
Scripture
Matthew 5:43-45
⁴³ “You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ ⁴⁴ But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, ⁴⁵ that you may be children of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.
Colossians 3:12-14
¹² Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. ¹³ Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. ¹⁴ And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.
Day 26 of 30·
Obedience Over Comfort
Sometimes God asks us to do things that feel uncomfortable or inconvenient.
The Bible tells the story of Jonah, a man who was told by God to go to a city and deliver a message. Jonah didn't want to go, so he ran in the opposite direction.
Obedience often means stepping into situations that are unfamiliar or that stretch us. It might mean talking to someone about your faith, forgiving someone who hurt you, or giving time or money when it would be easier not to.
Choosing obedience over comfort shows that we trust God’s plan more than our own preferences. In the end, Jonah still carried out God’s plan, but it would have been better if he had obeyed from the start.
Reflection question
Where might God be asking you to choose obedience over comfort?
Call to action
Say “yes” to something God has been prompting you to do.
Prayer
Lord, give me courage to obey, even when it’s uncomfortable. Amen.
Scripture
Jonah 1:1-3
¹ The word of the Lord came to Jonah son of Amittai: ² “Go to the great city of Nineveh and preach against it, because its wickedness has come up before me.”
³ But Jonah ran away from the Lord and headed for Tarshish. He went down to Joppa, where he found a ship bound for that port. After paying the fare, he went aboard and sailed for Tarshish to flee from the Lord.
John 14:23
²³ Jesus replied, “Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching. My Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them.
Day 27 of 30·
Living on Mission Every Day
When we think about the word “mission,” we might picture people travelling overseas to share the message of Jesus.
While that’s one kind of mission, Jesus calls His followers to live on mission every day, right where they are. This could mean showing kindness to a co-worker, helping a family member, or having a thoughtful conversation with a friend about faith. Every place you go—your home, workplace, school, Walmart, Dollar General, gas station, or sports field—is an opportunity to interact in a way that reflects God’s love.
Living on mission isn’t about having all the answers. It’s about being available for God to use you in the everyday moments of life.
Reflection question
How can you live on mission where you are today?
Call to action
Look for one opportunity to talk about or demonstrate your faith today.
Prayer
Father, help me see my everyday life as a mission field. Use me to share Your love. Amen.
Scripture
Matthew 28:18-20
¹⁸ Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. ¹⁹ Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, ²⁰ and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
Colossians 4:5-6
⁵ Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders; make the most of every opportunity. ⁶ Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone.
Day 28 of 30·
Hope for the Next Generation
How will your life impact those who come after you?
The Bible calls us to tell the next generation about the good things God has done so that they will put their trust in Him. This is one of the most important legacies we can leave.
You might do this by teaching a child, mentoring someone younger in faith, or simply living consistently so that others can see what following Jesus looks like.
Even the smallest seeds we plant in someone’s life—a conversation, a story, an example—can grow into something lasting.
Reflection question
Who is one younger person you could encourage in their faith this week?
Call to action
Reach out to someone younger and speak encouragement into their life.
Prayer
Lord, help me pass on a living, vibrant faith to those who come after me. Amen.
Scripture
Psalms 78:4-7
⁴ We will not hide them from their descendants;
we will tell the next generation
the praiseworthy deeds of the Lord,
his power, and the wonders he has done.
⁵ He decreed statutes for Jacob
and established the law in Israel,
which he commanded our ancestors
to teach their children,
⁶ so the next generation would know them,
even the children yet to be born,
and they in turn would tell their children.
⁷ Then they would put their trust in God
and would not forget his deeds
but would keep his commands.
2 Timothy 1:5
⁵ I am reminded of your sincere faith, which first lived in your grandmother Lois and in your mother Eunice and, I am persuaded, now lives in you also.
Day 29 of 30·
The Legacy You Leave
What story will your life tell after you are gone?
The Bible says a good person leaves an inheritance for their children’s children. This can mean physical provision, but it also means passing on values, faith, and love for God.
The legacy you leave is shaped by the choices you make each day. Even small acts of faithfulness can add up to a life that points people to Jesus.
Reflection question
What kind of legacy are you building right now?
Call to action
Do one thing today that invests in your spiritual legacy.
Prayer
Lord, help me live in a way that leaves a lasting legacy for Your Kingdom. Amen.
Scripture
Proverbs 13:22
²² A good person leaves an inheritance for their children’s children,
but a sinner’s wealth is stored up for the righteous.
2 Timothy 4:6-8
⁶ For I am already being poured out like a drink offering, and the time for my departure is near. ⁷ I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. ⁸ Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.
Day 30 of 30·
Living Open-Handed: The Journey Ahead
Generosity isn't just something we practice for a short time. It's a way of life.
Over these 30 days, we’ve seen that generosity is about more than money. It's about trusting God daily, investing in things that last forever, and looking for opportunities to bless others.
Living open-handed means holding what we have loosely and being ready to share it whenever God prompts us. Every act of kindness, service, or giving can point someone toward Jesus.
As you continue beyond this plan, keep asking God to show you where and how to live with open hands and an open heart.
Reflection question
What is one habit of generosity you can carry into your daily life?
Call to action
Choose one habit of generosity, and schedule it into your calendar so you can practice it regularly.
Prayer
Father, thank You for teaching me the joy of living open-handedly. Keep my heart generous, my hands ready, and my eyes open to the needs around me. Amen.
Scripture
Acts 20:35
³⁵ In everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said: ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’”
Galatians 6:9-10
⁹ Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. ¹⁰ Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.
